Did you know?

Hypermobility is a genetic condition that occurs when the joints have a deficit in certain collagen production. Flexibility is on a spectrum that is at the polar opposite end to stability. Any joint that is inherently very flexible is also inherently very unstable, and vice versa. In this course, Jennie talks in-depth about several stretches you do not want your hypermobile dancers to do and how you can help them prevent injuries. With that being said, you should always follow the rules of strengthening what you stretch and stretching what you strengthen.

Jennie Morton had a long and successful career as a singer, actor, and dancer before being pulled towards the path of health and wellness. Jennie’s first-hand understanding of a performer's physical challenges and daily stresses gives her a great advantage in providing comprehensive injury prevention and injury recovery care for performers. Take the Hypermobility Test!

A modification of the Carter and Wilkinson scoring system, the Beighton Scoring System measures joint hypermobility on a 9-point scale. The joints assessed are: the fifth or pinky fingers, base of the thumbs, elbows, knees, and spine.
