Martha Nichols, CLI Conservatory’s Director of Jazz, is a force, an award winning choreographer, master teacher, and dynamic speaker. She believes dance is an experience that should be felt physically, emotionally, energetically, musically and spiritually. Her class is a space where musicality, technique, shapes, groove, texture, and intention all become one. Martha received the 2016 Capezio Award for Choreographic Excellence and has been featured on the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine. Her other credits include: MTV’S VMA’s, The American Music Awards, Oscars, The Billboard Awards, Cirque du Soleil, GAP, Disney, X-Box, NBA, X-Factor, Dancing With the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance (Top 10 Season 2), Madonna, Rihanna, Jesse J, Ne-Yo, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, La La Land, Ted 2, ABC’s remake of Dirty Dancing, and is featured in The Greatest Showman as the “Woman in Gold”!
With over 15 years of industry experience, Martha founded her dance company “Martha Nichols Dance” and won The Capezio A.C.E. Awards with her piece / T I L T E D /. Her other choreography credits include tours and music videos for artists such as Moses Sumney, Madonna, Demi Lovato, Mariah Carey, Ke$ha, and Khalid.
Her choreography for our CY4 Blackbox Film “Surf Rider” went viral with over 4 million views on social media! Martha continues to inspire and empower her students at the CLI Conservatory, while honoring her culture and sharing her love for Christ.
